With extensive experience supporting students from top Los Angeles schools, we provide customized tutoring over Zoom that fits seamlessly into busy family schedules.

About Me
I’m Shera, the founder of Beyond Numbers Tutoring. I graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2009 with a degree in Applied Mathematics. My passion for teaching began when I volunteered in my high school math lab. From the very beginning, I saw how rewarding it was to help students gain clarity, confidence, and a sense of capability in math.

After college, I spent six years working as a statistical consultant at an actuarial consulting firm. While the corporate world sharpened my technical skills, I found myself drawn back to education, where I could make a more personal impact. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with students across all levels — from those who struggle with learning differences to high-achievers navigating rigorous advanced coursework.

What I value most is the connection I build with my students. Every session is about more than solving problems; it’s about helping them see what they’re capable of, reducing anxiety around math, and fostering a mindset that will serve them well in school and beyond.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking Griffith Park, caring for my puppy and kitten, and traveling whenever I can, always bringing back new perspectives and stories to share with my students.
